MEET JAY & LARISA HENINGTON
What is your job title and what do you provide?
Henington Photography are two lovebirds working as documentary photographers who photograph weddings, couples, boudoir, and families.
Why Weddings?
We love to photograph people in surprising and unique ways. For us, every shoot is an experiment where we try to create something that blows people’s minds. Whimsical colors, unique shapes, beautiful light, creative compositions, and real emotions are the ingredients we use to create exciting and interesting photos. We also want to show that wedding photography does not have to be kitschy. Wedding photography can be a creative art form used to tell the hilarious, joyous, awkward, and crazy stories that happen on a wedding day. That’s why we love photographing weddings, because we love working with interesting people. Wedding days are filled with every kind of emotion and tons of unexpected moments. That’s where our documentary instinct comes in. We are constantly in search of what Henri Cartier-Bresson called “the decisive moment” — that moment where everything aligns to create a compelling and unique photo. Those moments are rare but when they happen, it’s magic. In the end, that’s what we’re trying to do, create images that inspire a sense of wonder, awe, and magic.
What are you all about? What are you into, your background, what makes you unique and good at what you do?
We’re just silly, lighthearted people trying to create fun photos and live an adventurous and amazing life. We love spending time with our kiddos, watching movies, spending time with our friends, traveling, and eating incredible food! We often remind ourselves that we only get to live this life once, so we never want to live with regrets. When we want to do something, we go for it with everything we have. That’s what has driven our photography business: hard work and an intense desire to make the best photos we can. We’re never satisfied with where we are now. We’re always trying to improve and create something that is breathtaking and unique.
What experience do you want your clients to have with you?
We love getting to know our clients and creating real friendships. We have found that if our clients become friends, they’ll trust us when we tell them to “climb up there!,” “jump in that,” or “lay like this.” Creating truly incredible photos is a collaboration between us and our couples. We hope that they experience excitement, fun, and fear all at once! Ultimately, we hope we create photos for our couples that help them to experience the emotions they felt on their wedding day all over again for decades.
Vendor Showcase is for an opportunity for me to highlight some people in the wedding industry who do a great job. As a wedding videographer both in Chicago and abroad I constantly meet people who are really good at what they do from Wedding Planning, Design, Floral to killer Photographers.
