Sofia & Greg were married at the Chicago Illuminating Company, the perfect indoor/outdoor wedding venue in Chicago for this fun-loving couple!
Sofia is a snowbird transplant from her home state of Florida and Greg is a Wisconsin-born midwesterner. They took a chance on each other when they swiped right, and a first date was set! Sofia and Greg agreed to meet for the first time at Beatrix in Chicago (which has two locations!). Sofia was running late for their cocktail date and Greg realized he was sitting at the incorrect Beatrix location. Greg ran outside to head to the correct location when he saw Sofia headed towards him. They shared a laugh over their perfect mistake and had an amazing first date in each other’s company.

After nearly a year and a half of dating, Greg began his hunt for the perfect engagement ring. Greg popped the question in Fort Lauderdale over dinner with Sofia’s parents, and she happily accepted. The couple began planning their ideal wedding day which included a ceremony and reception at Chicago Illuminating Company. Sofia & Greg’s wedding was a full weekend of events including a morning after brunch at Budweiser Brickhouse Tavern, and a Saturday afternoon Chicago Cubs game!
When Sofia & Greg first began dating they bonded over their shared admiration for the Chicago Cubs. Greg knew that Sofia was for keeps when she was able to recite the teams entire starting roster! It was only fitting that they spend the day after their nuptials, rooting for their favorite team!

Greg & I met online, we have dated for 2 1/2 years. We enjoy working out, trying new restaurants, we are big cub fans, going to concerts and music events, we love walking around the city. Our family and friends are important to us and making sure to spend quality time together and enjoying life! Why do you want to capture your wedding on video?
We want to make sure we capture the details and the important moments including the moments we may not see. We have heard the day will fly by and it is hard to remember everything and it’ll be a great way to document a great memory for us for the rest of our lives. Having our wedding captured on video will let us enjoy the moment more knowing that we can re-live it again and again.

Our photographer recommended you and we think it’s important for video and photographer to work well together. We also enjoyed your past work and personality.
The proposal? …Tell me everything (all the gushy details)
Greg proposed to Sofia in her home city of Plantation in South Florida, where her parents still live. We went to dinner with us and Sofia’s parents at a family friends restaurant and had a tasting meal where different courses came out, at the dessert course instead of the dessert, a board was placed down asking Sofia to marry him in writing. When she looked up Greg was on one knee and proposed.
The Venue.. What made you choose Chicago Illuminating Company over all others?
We loved the space and how it had both an indoor and outdoor space and how simple but beautiful it was.
What experience do you want to give to your guests?
We want everyone to have fun! People have traveled so far to celebrate with us – we want everyone to enjoy it and feel like they were at a party vs a traditional formal wedding. We have a lot of people from outside Chicago so we added some Chicago touches and touches that are stuff Greg and I enjoy (craft beers, good food, good music).
